Set host bandwidth limit

Storage hosts are systems that use storage system LUN resources. Unisphere manages the hosts.

Prerequisites

This operation does not apply to storage systems running HYPERMAX OS 5977.

There is fibre channel connectivity to the host, and there is at least one initiator that is configured on the host.

About this task

Slow SAN drain is a congestion issue that is caused by slow drain devices (host bus adapters (HBAs) that have a lower link speed (BW) compared to storage array SLIC speeds (BW)). The issue can lead to severe fabric-wide performance degradation, but can be mitigated by configuring per initiator bandwidth limits.

Steps

  1. Select the storage system.
  2. Select Hosts > Hosts.
  3. Select a host, click An icon showing three dots arranged in a vertical row, signifying a menu with more options, and click Set Bandwidth Limit.
  4. Enter a value for the bandwidth limit.
  5. Optional: Click Clear to clear the value for the bandwidth limit.
  6. Click APPLY.
